Farida illustrates picture books, educational books and now writes her own picture book stories for various publishing houses in North America. Her niche is diversity and multiculturalism.

Author & Illustrator

Farida Zaman is an illustrator for 16 books and author illustrator of 3 books- “ALIYA’S SECRET- A STORY OF RAMADAN” (Owl Books) 2023  “MEENA CAN’T WAIT” (Orca Books) - spring 2024. Recently Farida has signed 2 more book deals with OWL BOOKS publishing dates spring and fall 2026. “I WANT TO BE A GUTSY GIRL- ABC” (Second Story Press) in 2020 was Farida's first author illustrator book.

Farida has trained in fine art and illustration at the Chelsea School of Art and the Wimbledon School of Art in London, where she graduated top of her class with honours. Her work has been exhibited at shows and galleries and has received recognition and awards in Europe and North America. 

Farida participated in the Children’s Book Week 2023 in schools in Nova Scotia and Quebec. She has done numerous book readings for school visits and libraries and  has run workshops based on some of her books.

Farida teaches painting and illustration workshops for adults and children and is a member of the Society of Illustrators in New York, SCBWI (Society for Children’s Book writers and Illustrators), and CANSCAIP (Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers).
