A GUTSY GIRLS' ABC - BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT

The title of my first book is very apt because I feel like the Gutsy Girl to have taken the plunge at long last as a children’s book author (and of course illustrated it myself).

The topic was very timely and unique for this young 3-6 age group. I was inspired by the #MeToo movement in 2018, and by early 2019, I had a manuscript and dummy completed to send out to publishers. The message "I want to be…" gives a message of unlimited possibilities, not just for little girls and women but also for people who have physical disabilities. The book shows that girls can do absolutely anything they want to do, hoping that this sows the seeds of dreams and those dreams become reality when they grow up. The occupations that I chose were ones that were a little over the top, making sure that there is no gender divide when it comes to career choices.

My publisher, Second Story Press, is a feminist publishing house and snapped it up since they were introducing a board book line for the very first time and found the theme just perfect! This book will be available from April 14, 2020, at all bookstores and online stores in Canada and the USA.
