CATCH UP WITH FARIDA: October Update and book launch news!

Autumn is an enchanting season that never fails to inspire me in my art studio. It's the perfect time to delve deep into ongoing projects and start thinking and working on new ones. This past month has been a delightful blend of long walks with my faithful companion, Pippa, amidst the breathtaking tapestry of fall colors. The weather has been exceptionally pleasant, with a few days of glowing warmth of an Indian summer. I am sharing some children’s publishing illustrations I created for the SCBWI October art challange below #scbwiartoctober2023

ALIYA’S SECRET: A STORY OF RAMADAN book launch news!

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Another Story Bookshop for graciously opening their enchanting bookstore to host our combined book launch, featuring Derek Mascarenhas's "100 CHAPATIS"

and my own work, "ALIYA'S SECRET: A STORY OF RAMADAN."

It was a perfect fall Sunday afternoon, and and the bookshop was buzzing with guests. The vibe was brilliant with positivity and high spirits all around.. To top it off, we had this table piled high with

yummy treats like samosas, coconut cake, and a special cake my kids lovingly baked to celebrate this special day.

A special thanks goes out to the wonderful Nadia L. Hohn for expertly moderating our discussion, igniting our conversation with her thought-provoking prompts.

I'd also like to extend a resounding round of applause to the dedicated Owlkids marketing team for their unwavering support and invaluable presence at the event.

And, of course, my warmest appreciation goes to my cherished family and friends who made the effort to join us at this remarkable occasion. Your presence meant the world to me!

Art Licensing News!

Here are some fun animal illustrations I did for my wonderful licensing agents at Wild Apple Graphics. I wanted the look to be whimsical and fun but not too cartoony. These were assigned to me for wall art clients. Also done digitally on procreate.

Some Spooky Halloween news to round up October

My dog Pippa ( A Coton de tulear) was on CTV last week showing off her Halloween witch costume. She did get a little fed up up of the rehearsals and when the time came I had to stuff my pockets with treats so that she was the perfect witch on TV!
